Our Founders, The Frodshams

Family Community Christmas was founded in 1986 by Barbara and Frank Frodsham, driven by a desire to spread joy and warmth of the Christmas season to those in need. The inspiration for this charity came from a personal experience that year when Barbara’s close friend was facing a difficult time and unable to spend Christmas with her children. Barbara’s friend suggested organizing a Christmas party for homeless individuals in Salt Lake City. Barbara and Frank embraced the idea with open hearts.

In December 1986, Barbara and her friend drove into Salt Lake City loaded up 17 homeless people to join them at the Frodsham’s horse farm. Upon arrival, the guests were greeted by volunteers and treated to a festive celebration. They enjoyed a warm meal and were given the opportunity to pick out warm clothing, ensuring they were well-prepared for the winter months.

Since that first Christmas, Family Community Christmas has grown into a beloved community event. Barbara and Frank’s children, neighbors, and volunteers from Davis and surrounding counties have played an active role in ensuring that those in need are not forgotten during the Christmas season.

Fast forward to 2024 the goal is the same, deliver love and laughter to those in need.
